It was the February of 2009......I could not think....I could not eat.......I could not sleep......I was an emotional wreck..... The vet had said to put her to sleep.

Puch and I go way back.....way, way back......beautiful pink nosed, black & white slight of a kitten....those were the college days with lots of rum truffles, Olympia chai, exams, boyfriend, parties, Nani, clothes.....had been thru many a teenage heartbreak and just did not want another with a cat and her running away... had 14 of them growing up and just didn't want to be connected to another disappearance or death or whatever!!

But my mother being my mother knew best! So Puch or christened Abracadabra and magic she definitely was..... my friend, my brat of a sister, my silent comfort who would just sit by my side and absorb all my angst, wait under the covers and  cuddle up,  knock on my door with the utmost urgency and then proceed to keep me up all night playing...she was my pulse.....we were totally connected!

But Puch was loved by all...my mum would take her on shoots, recordings and whatnot. When she wanted her afternoon siesta it was up on Nani's warm tv and when she was thirsty she went straight for Nani's iced glass of water on her bedside.  Even my mum's singing teacher would not take class without enquiring shrilly where " Abridabri" was! And of course Ramprasad and Zainab in the kitchen adored her to bits. She was the Center of the household.

Puch was mostly on a diet of dry cat food. The only time she fell sick in her entire life time was when she was 19. She went into hiding, wouldn't touch cheese, didn't want anything to do with food, was drinking too much water and not passing urine.......these were all signs of kidney failure..the dry cat food  contributed.....the medicines weren't working....the vet said put her to sleep.

With heavy hearts and thinking it may be best for her, we called another vet home to do the awful thing. I stayed up all night talking to her asking for her forgiveness and crying with her....

Morning came, the vet came....we couldn't do it. We felt a little lighter but yet still heavy.....I still couldn't sleep or eat......I needed to find a way to make her well....all there was left now was talking to God...wanting guidance...through someone...something.....anything.......help! Then it came...a flash...a word......."WHEATGRASS". That's it! It had to be.....not knowing anything....I had to find it........Google brought up Dr.Anne Wigmore and the benefits of the powerful, potent wheatgrass juice and all the multivitamins and essential minerals and the cure of cancer and the cleansing of the kidneys and the blood and that wheatgrass juice is like blood itself.  I wasn't even sure it was available in Bombay...Google brought up Villas's name....is was sent for immediately. We did not have a wheatgrass juicer...it was hand pressed by us and strained...we didn't know dosage.....we gave what we felt right.....Puch took it, we injected it into her mouth....she started passing urine, her appetite slowly back, she started sitting in the sun. My close friend Devi brought down a wheatgrass juicer specially for Puch from America. It was easier then.... We got into a good routine of wheatgrass juice and warm fermentation of her kidneys. We called it the Spa treatment and the whole house and guests when they visited got into the rhythm. Puch seemed to relax into it and knew it worked for her. She knew it made us happy too...she let us.......

Puch was 20 a year later.  She looked young....her old physical body had to be given up....she looked into my eyes and I had to let her go.....

Thank you my darling Puch and thank you Dr.Anne Wigmore....thank you Villas for bearing with my constant requirements and delivering at all times whenever and wherever and continue to be doing so for all my other beautiful soul friends...cats and dogs....Thank you for now making life  easier with the freshly squeezed packaged juice both wheatgrass and papaya which are often called for at the WSD kennel and has helped many a dog with increasing their platelet count and cleansing their systems.

My 5 cats at home can't do without it especially my Kutti who comes asking for the wheatgrass for breakfast and after dinner. Of course she and Tofu and their little now big baby Squiggy like being fed...so we sit at the dining table and the ceremony begins...with the other two kittens Masala and Ginger playing with the blades and trying to eat simultaneously.

Thank you God , Spirit guides and the Angels........thank you............
